Skate Sharpening Courses
The law requires that any person dealing with grinding equipment must be suitably trained and certified to comply with PUWER 98. This often means sending staff on a day long course to achieve this certification where they will learn about all types of grinding equipment that they will unlikely ever use. In reality they only need to know about single speed grinding wheels. Ice Aid has produced a tailor made course specific to skate sharpening. Approved by IRMA (Ice Rink Managers Assoc) that is delivered by an Abrasive Wheel qualified instructor that ensures PUWER 98 compliance. Rather than teach all the other grinding machines, Ice Aids’ course delivers instruction on skate sharpening only. Certifying them as required by law but also training and examining your staff on the art of good skate sharpening. This course can be delivered on your site using your machine and at a time that suits your staff and your operational requirements. It is a one day course providing a qualification that complies with the law and lasts for 3 years.
